We all know about my love for mexican food–so it is only fitting that next to my plate of my favorite food you will find a fabulous margarita. But not just any margarita.
When I take a drink from my glass I do not want to have an icy drink that has a hint of lime and basically no flavor. I want a cold, refreshing drink where you can taste all of the traditionally expected flavors, lime, tequilla, triple sec.
So when a girlfriend of mine showed up with a bottle of Skinny Girl Margarita as a gift for me, even though I absolutely loved the bottle, I was skeptical about how it would taste. I have found, when you buy pre-made margarita mix, that they are either really great or really bad. So cute bottle or not, this “Skinny Girl” had a 50/50 chance of being good–at least in my mind.
I have to admit, I was incredibly surprised at how good it was. It was not overly strong with tequilla but it is definitely there. It was light and refreshing and had just the right amount of tartness.
So you can imagine my surprise when the bottle was finished and I started searching out the details of this great drink online and I quickly found that this was actually a 100 calorie per serving cocktail. Not only was it great it was, as the label proudly suggests, guilt free.
I had to find more–or maybe I would just find a way to make it.
The following is a great copycat recipe for Skinny Girl Margarita.
- 2 oz of Clear Premium Tequila
- Tiny splash of Orange Liquor
- Juice of 4 Fresh Lime Wedges
Combine all ingredients and serve on the rocks. Garnish with a lime wedge for added appeal. Now sit back and enjoy your low-calorie cocktail that you won’t regret in the morning.
